About This Blog

The question “will this be on the test” is one of the most powerful questions that a student can ask a teacher. This question can disrupt a dynamic lesson or it can derail the focus of a class. However, this question also indicates a certain perspective on the function of education. Is every lesson testable? Are the many experiences in a school that contribute to the well-being of children measurable?  Despite the increased demand for, and emphasis on, standardized testing of our young people, it is important for people interested in the public education system to represent a different viewpoint. Education is an art that nurtures the personal growth of young people, as such the goal of educators transcends perpetual test preparation.

I started this website to foster a community of concerned educators, parents, and students that recognize the important role that public schools have in the lives of young people. This community accepts submissions by parents, educators, and students to tell the story about the positive difference their school makes in their lives.
